Statement regarding VTA rail yard incident May 26, 2021

Like our entire community, we are shaken by today's horrific incident at the VTA rail yard. VTA is family and they are a key part of our County of Santa Clara community. Our hearts are with those directly impacted, and we stand in support with all of our VTA workers.

We offer support to our workers and anyone in our community impacted or traumatized by this. We will heal and we will move forward to keep our community safe.

Please note: For anyone directly connected to VTA or this incident we recommend calling the County of Santa Clara Sheriff's support line at 408-299-2311. A reunification center with counselors is now open at 70 West Hedding Street in the Isaac Newton Senter Auditorium. A family assistance center will open at noon today at the Red Cross, 2731 N. First Street, San José, CA 95134.
